Fickle Feminism

Amanda Marcotte - kinda cute Feminist and perpetually outraged angry person.
I have long been accused of being a ‘troll’ by the inhabitants of progressive/feminist/liberal nutjob sites across the blogosphere. Of course, what they portray as ‘trolling’ I describe as excursions into enemy occupied territory but that is neither here nor there. I have meandered through the minefields of DailyKos, Huffpost, Feministing and dozens of lesser known domains occupied by the usual assortment of blind Bush-haters, male bashers, terrorist apologists, socialists, 9-11 conspiracists and the like and the excursions have always been very interesting.
I don’t believe in ideologically segregated, blogosphere ‘playgrounds’ or hallowed ground, gated communities, nor does the thought of someone leaving a ‘non-harmonious’ comment on a thread appear to me to be a serious threat to Western Civilization. Rarely do I blindly attack those who honestly and genuinely disagree with me on a subject. Alas, that cannot be said for many on the Left.
Some people experience fear or are disheartened by the hatred, attacks, name-calling and general antagonism directed towards them when they stray off the reservation, but I actually kind of enjoy it. Not only is it wise to understand how an ideological enemy thinks and views the world, but there is also the enjoyment of seeing the strategically launched strike (comment) cause a thread to explode or unbalanced people to lose it. I certainly fear no other ideologies (or ideologues) and three quarters of the time can make my opponents argument better than he or she can themselves.
Recently I have been visiting the pink-booted, bitter, foul-mouthed, feminista fascists over at Pandagon.net (OK, that’s a little mean, they don’t really wear pink boots very often) and my mere presence as a male seems to really get them going. Not to mention that I believe in gender roles, am pro-life, believe in marriage, am a ‘fundie’ Christian, don’t view unborn babies as mere “parasitic cells”, have no problem with a bride wearing a wedding dress etc. etc. (you get the picture).
My rather pointed, and often brief comments and observations seems to throw them in a tizzy, but I haven’t managed to get myself banned yet.
The article How not to be an Asshole; A guide for men was recently posted on Pandagon.
And for your amusement, and mine, here are a couple of comments in response to my attempt to proper include both genders equally in all things. Even Amanda ‘hot, white, sticky Holy Spirit’ Marcotte of Edwards blogging fame has taken a couple shots at me lately. I am so blessed.
We eagerly await the companion guide to this for women. How Not To Be A Bitch. (my somewhat sarcastic original post)

That doesn’t sound like a very useful guide to me, Infidel. Let me instead present a more useful guide:
How to be a bitch
Have opinions of your own. Bonus points for disagreeing with a man.Consider your comfort before your attractiveness to the hypothetical heterosexual male when getting dressed. Be sexy when you want to; not because it’s obligatory.Consider your words as of equivalent value to those of a man. Insist they be treated as such.Notice sexism. Say something about it.Require more from men than that they not rape you in order to consider them “nice guys.”Don’t give out cookies for minimum standards of decency: expect more.Expect an orgasm for yourself from sexual encounters as the default. Be willing to take matters into your own hands.Don’t feel guilty or sorry for failing to conform to someone else’s idea of how you should perform gender. Don’t apologize. When it’s appropriate for someone to shut the fuck up, do let them know.
I hope this has been a helpful guide for those pursuing bitchiness.
And if you actually took the time to visit the article link, well, STFU (you’ll have to read the article to understand that coming from me). I have been a political activist for about the last twenty years, as well as a blogger and columnist for the last five and rarely have I seen such continual anger, stereotyping and pervasive hatred as I have seen on far Left blogs. The ideological purists on the Left (pardon me, the proud members of the reality-based community) are actually the least ‘inclusive’ bunch I’ve ever had the pleasure of shaking a stick at. Blog on, angry ones, blog on.
After this post, maybe she’ll finally ban me, we’ll see. (And for those who would brand me with the label misogynist and member of the patriarchy, I am the proud father of three daughters and attempt to impart intelligence, knowledge, assertiveness, self-esteem, respect, integrity, honor, responsibility, self-control, morals and values in them on a daily basis. I hate to disappoint but ‘liberation of women’ is not the cheap, tawdry imitation of freedom hawked by modern day Feminism. )

Did Dave really just say “STFU”???
I really should email him and tell him what that means.

I was merely using the ‘enlightened’ little group of letters as instructed by the feminist male in the article. Occasionally even I like to ’shock and awe’my Conclub comrades..

STFU? Sorry but I don’t get it. Can someone help me out. DFV sure is an expert on text message lingo. Do impart your wisdom. And if it helps, I am fairly certain what the ‘F-U’ part means.

“Shut the”, as in “I just wish GWB would STFU”.

And for the record, I really like this Betty person. If it weren’t for the whole homo-thing on my part, I might even fancy her.
BTW, Since Dave seems to visit there so often, maybe we should add Pandagon to the blogroll.
