Michael Vick Indicted in Dogfighting Case
He faces possible prison time and in Roger Goodell’s NFL, a lengthy suspension.
Prosecutors have detailed gruesome actions that allegedly took place.
Each fight, according to court records, would “last to the end” — the point at which one dog surrendered or died. For defeated dogs, though, surviving the fight could lead to an even worse fate.
“At the end of the fight,” court documents say, “the losing dog was sometimes put to death by drowning, strangulation, hanging, gun shot, electrocution or some other method.”
When a Bad Newz Kennels dog was wounded in a losing fight, Michael Vick was consulted before the animal was doused with water and electrocuted.

I think it is a sad commentary that we, as a culture, our using the Vick story to compare “What’s worse?” “What’s worse”, we ask, ” carelessly fathering illegitimate children, or dogfighting?”. “Dogfighting or rape?” “Dogfighting or racism?” “Dogfighting or hateful nationalism?” “Dogfighting or (fill in the blank)….?”
Dogfighting is one more piece of evidence our country is in need of a spiritual transformation (please note I said spiritual and not necessarily religious). Animals are sentient beings – they feel pain, and they suffer, just like we do. They are not more important, or less important than human beings, but like human beings, they are important, too.
Every major faith teaches its followers to be responsible stewards of animals and the Earth. Please help us get the word out that caring for animals, just like caring for people, is an important part of just being a decent person and citizen. If we make this a priority, there will be no more dogfighting horror stories, and no more pointless comparisons of evils. Let us all rise, together, to be better people than we are today, shall we?

hi, i don’t know much about all this law stuff but it is so wroung what he is doing and i think he dederves to go to jail for a while untill he knows he should not kill dogs jest for money or fun, but love and care for them. i am sorry that he is a football player but that makes no diff.

I don’t like the idea of Pitbulls being banded from Youngstown OH. because I live in Youngstown and I am also an owner of one. Pitbulls are very loyal dogs and they do not choose to fight unless the owner makes them. If I was a dog and I had an owner that was mean and beat me to fight I would not hesitate to bite them.

What a poor indication of how good your parents must have been, they must be so proud of you. Have you any idea the way these poor unfortunate dogs are treated right from day one. Shit let the dogs and if one loses, hell, apparently hes not a legit game dog and shouldnt even be in the ring. Get rid of em, make em a family pet, but dont kill em, u kno? Thanks E I was about to say something very similar. David if you must idolize a football player try Warrick Dunn. The guy is soft spoken and donates his free time to providing homes to poor, black families. He has been instrumental in the effort to help the people of his hometown of New Orleans after Katrina. He is the kind of guy who would actually give a crap about you and your family. Michael Vick would not.
Vick is a gifted athlete who got an opportnity that precious few people on this earth get and he blew it with his own arrogance and stupidity. This is not the type of person anyone should idolize.
