Friday Night Punk: Ted Leo & the Pharmacists

Not sure if this qualifies as punk or not, but this is one of my favorite bands, Ted Leo & The Pharmacists, called Where Have All the Rude Boys Gone. It’s awesome.

  1. Not sure if it’s punk (I must get permission), but I like it! But the whole “Live at The Unitarian Church” thing, might be a deal-killer. :)

  2. I don’t listen to a lot of punk, I’m mostly into indie pop/indie rock. So Ted Leo is about as punk as I get, although this song might definitely qualify, even though I didn’t want to post it here (for obvious reasons).

  3. That one was freakin’ great. Is this a local band, and if not, why have I not heard of them?

  4. Glad you liked it! He’s not local, but he’s never really been in the limelight, either. He had a band in the mid-90s called Chisel, but when they broke up, he started the Pharmacists. All of his stuff has been described in part as punk, but it’s a lot more melodic and complex, really crossing through a lot of genres. He definitely has a punk ethos, though, and his live shows are spectacular. If you wanted to check him out, I’d try one of his two last albums first, Shake the Sheets or Living with the Living.
