  1. We lost Vietnam, and he’s probably gonna lose this election. He’s two for two so far.

I agree with Andre…let the silliness begin in earnest.

  2. Obama’s been cruising on 90% + of the Black vote. He’s lost significant ground among white voters and he now has a genuine “Anti” vote (people who say they won’t vote for him under any circumstances). He’s been forced to abandon his post-partisan rhetoric because he’s now seen to be the extreme liberal he really is. And there are probably more skeletons in his closet to come. He’s surviving on a coalition of groups that won’t vote republican anyway come fall: the far left, blacks and young libs. I’d say Mccain has a very good chance.

  3. Yes, we can, Yes we can! Maybe McCain should be using that mantra now.

Let the real mudslinging begin ’cause it’s gonna get dirty.

  4. The thing is the Dems haven’t focused on McCain yet as they’ve just been pounding each other. If I remember correctly Bush I was polling way ahead of Clinton round about this time in ‘92. A lot of the Hillary voters say they won’t vote for Obama but will that last if Hillary starts stumping for him? And will she be willing to do that?

  5. McCain had a good chance, but it slims every time he opens his mouth lately about his policies. If he keeps it up, I’ll be able to splice together enough quotes to make my music video for the Sam Cooke song “Wonderful World”.

  6. It will be an interesting race. A maverick Republican versus the most liberal member of the Senate. A win the war at any cost proponent vs. an abandon Iraq no matter what the cost advocate. I agree that polls do not matter much at this point, but it does show that there is a significant portion of people who are distrustful of the new, I’ve got nothing done in the Senate, guy from Illinois. I suspect its some bitter, religious gun owners who don’t like pressing 1 for english, but I may be wrong.

  7. One has to wonder also if the Dems have been holding back on McCain as I suspect they have. I would assume they have some sort of McCain smearing strategy in place that they have been waiting to unleash until they have a definite candidate. You are correct Dave that there is a certain segment of the population who just will not vote for Obama but they are the steady Republican voters anyway.

Just to repeat today’s mantra….. Let the silliness begin.

  8. Do you ever wonder if this might be the genuine “stay at home” election?

  9. Dude hit the Trifecta, (funny how republicans do that) we’re losing two wars AND you’ve got a snowballs chance in hell of winning the election. Despite the daily dose of televised happy talk the economy has fallen off a cliff and still hasn’t hit bottom.

Since Ben Bernanke thinks he’s running a pawn shop with a printing press in the back for his buddies things are only going to get worse. When US citizens start hoarding rice (most people I know can’t even make rice without an electric rice cooker) then you know it’s TEOTWAWKI any time know.

I mean, sure McCain is going to get the stroke recovery and hypocritical adultery vote but even Klan members can see which way the numbers at the gas pump are heading and they know 18 cents isn’t jack. Not to mention since Jim-Bob got back from his third tour in Iraq he can’t even work the remote much less find a job.

Poor white folks can’t even join the Guard anymore since that earns you all the training needed to push shopping carts at WalMart with your one good arm.

    Even stupid has limits.
