FN — [Definitely Not!] — P

Filed under: Entertainment, Friday Night Punk — DFV the Scribe @ 11:03 pm

Earlier today, I heard a song on the radio that I had never heard before, and immediately loved it. So much so that when I got home, I just had to Google it. How embarrassed I felt to learn that it was in fact a Hannah Montana bubble-gum pop hit.

Oh well, I still love it.

  1. I have an 11 year old Hannah Montana expert at home, which, pretty much makes me a Hannah Montana expert. This song is a top 40 hit and is quite a bit more racey than her traditional Disney-like Best of Both Worlds or Life’s what you make it songs. When you combine this with the most recent photo shoot for Vanity Fair, it is clear to see that team Miley (headed by dad Billy Ray) is prepping the young teen for life after ‘tweens.’ Since the shelf life for Hannah Montana is quickly expiring, I think the moves are brilliant. I just wouldn’t pose her for some skanky pics.

  2. The Beast’s ten and twelve year olds never tire of her. They watch each episode over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over over and over and over and over…

  4. *sigh* Same thing happened to me. No kids so I had no clue about it until I heard it on the radio. Loved it, then realized it made a reference to “just being Miley” after the third or fourth play, and utter shock set in as I realized who that was. And if you think you’re embarrassed, I downloaded it into my MP3 player. Nobody at work is allowed to touch it anymore, lest they find out how low I have sunk.

  5. I feel for ya IZ, but as I’m a middle school teacher, I had a different dilemma. I play songs during passing period and I take requests, though I only select requests of songs that I actually like.

[An aside-- Thurdays are "Throwback Thursdays" where I play songs from pre-1990. You'd be amazed at how many of my 7th graders have deeply-felt requests for Throwback Thursdays regarding the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, or AC/DC, etc.]

    Anyway….

One time, Hannah Montana was requested, to which I huffed that no HM song could garner my approval. SO, once I found that I, in fact, loved a particular song of hers, I felt that the honorable thing to do was to go back to my class, admit my horror, and throw myself on the mercy of the court. As should now be clear from the comments of the dads, I heard innumerable shreiks along the lines of: “My sister loves that song. She’s seven!” These were inevitably followed by gales of laughter.

Alas, ’tis a tough road I follow, but somebody’s got to do it.
