Dave’s Quote of the Day

with 13 comments

You and I have a rendezvous with destiny. We will preserve for our children this, the last best hope of man on earth, or we will sentence them to take the first step into a thousand years of darkness. If we fail, at least let our children and our children’s children say of us we justified our brief moment here. We did all that could be done.

  1. The assumption that the US is “the last best hope of man on earth” (assumign that is what he was referring to) is particularly laughable. The US comes nowhere near leading the world as a moral exemplar; in terms of human development; or as an example for domestic policy.

  2. so if your assumption is correct phooey, then who is the moral exemplar in the world? Who is the top dog of human development or domestic policy? If the U.S. is “nowhere near leading,” then please share the list with us!

  5. Well, it would be very easy to link to and quote my references.

However, again, they’ll probably be deleted by those afraid to deal with the facts. Do a quick search on “Human Development Index” or “Quality of Life Index”.

    • This “non answer” answer literally made me laugh out loud!

      Seriously.

Mr. Mo asked what the heck was so funny? To which I replied, one word: “Phooey”.

  7. Well, New Zealand leads the world in sheep vs humans:

In 1950 the ratio was 18 sheep for every person in New Zealand, and from then until 1986 it varied between 18 and 22 sheep per person. It was 16 sheep per person in 1991.

In recent years the number of sheep to humans has decreased to 8 sheep per person, though. Perhaps this has been caused by an infestation of Orcs.

  8. It’s because he can’t bring himself to admit that Australia is the shining example of which he speaks.

  9. That is what I figured. Phooey can’t just type out a quick list. He needs that backing from some leftist site that uses trumped up numbers about “quality of life.”

  10. I figured he would go with China. They’ve developed more humans than any other country.

  11. Thom, China also has the largest number of Sheep of any country in the world, although the ratio of sheep to humans per capita record is still held by NZ.

  12. I think there may be some counties in Montana and Wyoming that surpass NZ. :)
