U.S. calls an “extraordinary” meeting of 26 NATO allies
The heavy-handedness of Russia in Georgia has prompted a meeting of members of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. I always find the back room deal making and war of words that are spoken and speculated compelling.
The 26 NATO foreign ministers will hold their emergency meeting at the Alliance headquarters in the Belgian capital on Tuesday where they are set to offer help and support to Tbilisi while sending a strong message to Moscow over its military intervention there.
The extraordinary meeting was called by US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice who is seeking a comprehensive review of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization’s relations with Moscow
Naturally, each player brings his own agenda to the table. This crisis is no different. Already, the evidence exists that a tight alliance of those who oppose aggressive action by the Soviets. . . er. . . Russians will compete at the same table as those nations who traditionally pay lip service to the methods of totalitarianism.
Despite the US official’s assurance that “I think you’ll see a NATO more united than you might expect,” other diplomatic sources said the subject of Russia’s role in Georgia had split NATO members.
Britain, Canada, the United States and most eastern European member states are in one camp seeking a tough stance on Russia’s actions, the sources said.
Meanwhile most of western Europe, led by France and Germany and backed by Hungary, Slovenia and others, were more cautious of further hurting ties with Moscow.
And everyone knows that if France or Germany oppose something, then the left believes that “the world opposes it.” We wouldn’t want to hurt ties with Moscow now, would we?
Don’t worry Jeff and Wes - Russia is not invading your Georgia.
The pitiful path of Multiculturalism
Schoolboys punished with detention for refusing to kneel in class and pray to Allah
Two schoolboys were given detention after refusing to kneel down and ‘pray to Allah’ during a religious education lesson.
Parents were outraged that the two boys from year seven (11 to 12-year-olds) were punished for not wanting to take part in the practical demonstration of how Allah is worshipped.
They said forcing their children to take part in the exercise at Alsager High School, near Stoke-on-Trent - which included wearing Muslim headgear - was a breach of their human rights.
It is sometimes sad to have to sit and watch the slow disintegration of Western Civilization. The country that once set out to make the rest of the world “British” is now coercively teaching its children Islam while fretting about whether flying the English flag is somehow “racist”. How far they have fallen as the sun sets on the once mighty British Empire.
Can you imagine the uproar if the Pakistanis in the UK were forced to attend mass or partake in Holy Communion? There would be riots in the streets and the cabal of Leftists and Liberal apologists would be crying for blood and revenge while screaming tyranny and oppression with all their might.
If a similar situation were to happen to my children, that teacher would be ruing the day she made that mistake. Here is the gobbly gook, PC doublespeak reaction to the incident from the school.
“The headteacher David Black contacted this authority immediately complaints were received.
“Enquiries are being made into the circumstances as a matter of urgency and all parents will be informed accordingly.
“Educating children in the beliefs of different faith is part of the diversity curriculum on the basis that knowledge is essential to understanding.
“We accept that such teaching is to be conducted with some sense of sensitivity.”
Elvis is no girly name!
I ran across this and had to laugh. Apparently in Sweden you can pick any number of things from your drugs to the gender (or transgender) of your spouse. But don’t you dare name your girl Elvis!
Swedish tax authorities have informed a couple in Stockholm that they may not keep the name Elvis for their five-month old daughter.
“It is the National Tax Board’s view that Elvis is a first name of a masculine type and as such may, in light of standard practice, be considered clearly inappropriate as a first name for a woman.”
No word yet on the names Pat, Kelly, Sammy, Blaine, Riley, Alex, Morgan, Haley, or Jan.
Some people should be slapped
Those who lecture us on the evils of the internal combustion engine and sneer at those selfish Americans who insist on driving to work and heating their homes deserve just as much derision as they level at the rest of us. Only elitists say “too bad but what about the polar bears” when confronted with the human and economic costs on the middle and lower classes that high gas and food prices invariably have. And the next idiot that tries to somehow justify his finger wagging in my face by referring to Europe, in any sense, should simply be slapped.
On the environmental front, people concerned about greenhouse-gas emissions should be cheering today’s oil prices. Expensive motor fuel is the only thing that will lead consumers to use less and make the switch to hybrid vehicles, smaller cars and public transit. Higher oil prices are persuading automakers to change their fleets.
The Migrations of Man
THB mentioned that “Genetic research on the origins of Man in North America suggests a European source for many Native American populations. This confounds the narrative that American Indians came exclusively from Asia and Europeans are invaders.”
Identity politics, entitlement and political correctness have become the guardian spirits of the concept that only Native Americans (but not really “native” if they came from Asia) are Native Americans and not some other Native Americans who may have also come here thousands of years ago (but from other continents so they can’t be “native” either) primarily because it might somehow validate the ideas that other races might have the right to live in the America’s as well. Did you follow that?
Well, I didn’t either but it is the basis for some serious scientific and political tomfoolery and is the reason many tribes are scrambling to get their hands on various skeletons before scientists have a chance, They are doing their best to prevent any such tests or study that might prove that some proto-Kelts (or if you prefer proto-Celts) may have wandered across the Atlantic at one time or another, or some Chinese may have been shipwrecked on the California coast or some Africans had made it to the jungles of Central America. It suddenly places the early, Siberian-descended migrants to the New world on a similar plain as some other potential arrivals and we couldn’t have that, could we?

The classic theory trotted out in traditional history books is that the peoples of Siberia walked across the a land bridge spanning across to Alaska and proceeded to scatter throughout North and South America and were the sole ancestors of every tribe in the America’s. It was also taught that the America’s had remained untouched and undiscovered by any others until that fateful day in 1492. This usually managed to fill about a fourth of a page and that was that. I never did buy this theory in its entirity and my habit of absorbing irrelevant and unusual historical tidbits from a large variety of sources turned up many things that didn’t fit with the story I had been taught.
The ancients were far more mobile, technological resourceful and far ranging that we typically think.
Good luck with that
Greek islanders seek to reclaim term ‘Lesbian’
One of the plaintiffs said Wednesday that the name of the association, Homosexual and Lesbian Community of Greece, “insults the identity” of the people of Lesbos, who are also known as Lesbians….
….Lambrou said the word lesbian has only been linked with gay women in the past few decades. “But we have been Lesbians for thousands of years,” said Lambrou, who publishes a small magazine on ancient Greek religion and technology that frequently criticizes the Christian Church.
And I thought being an “Okie” or a Las Vegan was bad. Hi, my name is Dave and I’m a Lesbian.
The White Dragon
SAXON WAR SONG
by Sir Walter Scott ( 1771-1832 )
Whet the bright steel,
Sons of the White Dragon!
Kindle the torch,
Daughter of Hengist!
The steel glimmers not for the carving of the banquet,
It is hard, broad and sharp pointed;
The torch goeth not to the bridal chamber,
It steams and glitters blue with sulpher.
Whet the steel, the raven croaks!
Light the torch, Zernebrock is yelling!
Whet the steel, sons of the Dragon!
Kindle the torch, daughter of Hengist! The black clouds are low over the thane’s castle:
The eagle screams-he rides on their bosom.
Scream not, grey rider of the sable cloud,
Thy banquet is prepared!
The maidens of Valhalla look forth,
The race of Hengist will send them guests.
Shake your black tresses, maidens of Valhalla!
And strike your loud timbrels for joy!
Many a haughty step bends to your halls,
Many a helmed head.Dark sits the evening upon the thane’s castle,
The black clouds gather round;
Soon shall they be red as the blood of the valiant!
The destroyer of forests shall shake his red crest against them;
He, the bright consumer of palaces,
Broad waves he his blazing banner,
Red, wide, and dusky,
Over the strife of the valiant;
His joy is the clashing swords and broken bucklers;
He loves to lick the hissing blood as it bursts warm from the wound! All must perish!
The sword cleaveth the helmet;
The strong armour is pierced by the lance:
Fire devoureth the dwelling of princes,
Engines break down the fences of battle.
All must perish!
The race of Hengist is gone-
The name of Horsa is no more!
Shrink not then from your doom, sons of the sword!
Let your blades drink blood like wine;
Feast ye in the banquet of slaughter,
By the light of blazing halls!
Strong be your swords while your blood is warm.
And spare neither for pity nor fear,
For vengeance hath but an hour;
Strong hate itself shall expire!
I also must perish.
I know I sound like Andre and Guru but. . .
My conspicuous absence has been due to the substantial work load heaped upon this poor teacher. April and May are hell for high school teachers so sometimes, the only time I can post is when the students are taking a test or working on some project. So I get back from Spring break two weeks ago and the computer powers that be have installed a nifty internet filter on our network. No Youtube, no projectplaylist, and no Conclub. It seems we have too many undesirable words that *ahem* trip the filter.
I also had to file taxes last night. Saturdays are awash in soccer. It was so bad that I had to DVR the Masters. I have football clinics at C.U. and C.S.U. And to top it off, tonight I got a call and was forced to attend an Avalanche playoff game. But hey, will all be forgiven if, like Andre, I say that some Israelis are making my computer life miserable with their high tech demands? Hell I’m already like Guru with the internet problems. Perhaps I can be like the Scribe and just go see some plays every night for the next four years (Andre is not the only gay guy on the site).
Easy boys, I’m just kidding.
But to make things all better, I thought I would add this nice little bit about the French nanny state trying to dictate the size of models or the content of magazines:
In the capital of high fashion and ultrathin models, conservative French legislators adopted a pioneering law on Tuesday aimed at stifling a proliferation of Web sites that promote eating disorders with “thinspiration” and starvation tips.
The bill, approved by the lower house of Parliament, faces a Senate vote. If passed, it would take aim at any means of mass communication — including magazines and Web sites — that promote eating disorders like anorexia or bulimia with punishments of up to three years in prison and more than $70,000 in fines.
You’ve got to love this guy

I guess all the Europeans haven’t crawled into their shells to die. It’s nice to see that there are still a couple who have had enough. Conclub’s favorite Italian?
Silvio Berlusconi elected to third term as Prime Minister of Italy
“My throne will be very uncomfortable. But as I tell my friends, I have been unstoppable until now. I feel very different from the Berlusconi of 2001. I know how this works, and I can be immediately working for the good of the country.”
See also Communists Crushed as Right Rises
For the first time since the postwar republic was founded in 1948, no Communists will be represented in parliament, their seats tumbling from 84 to zero. The Greens, partners in the Rainbow Left alliance, lost all 15 of their seats.
Fausto Bertinotti, veteran trade union leader, resigned as head of the alliance. Enrico Boselli quit as leader of the Socialists after they also lost all seats, confirming that party’s long decline.
Supporters of Mr Berlusconi celebrated the “revolution … the final fall of the Berlin Wall in Italy”, and hailed what they see as his success in establishing a “normal”, bi-party system divided between his centre-right coalition and the centre-left Democrats. “The joke country of 1,000 parties and 1,000 governments is dead thanks to Berlusconi,” commented Senator Paolo Guzzanti
“Communists Crushed”. Now that’s a headline worth commemorating no matter who you are. Sniff, sniff. It’s downright beautiful. That’s a headline I’d frame and hang on the wall.
Clash of the leftists cancels torch relay
I’ve said before that there is something delicious about two nefarious ideologies wreaking havoc on each other. This would appear to be the case of the Communist Chinese and the leftist greens. Its like watching the Patriots play the Raiders. Who do you root for?
Outside, a few French activists supporting Tibet had a fist-fight with pro-Chinese demonstrators. The French activists spat on them and shouted, “Fascists!”
In San Francisco, where the torch is due to arrive Wednesday, three protesters wearing harnesses and helmets climbed up the Golden Gate Bridge and tied the Tibetan flag and two banners to its cables. The banners read “One World One Dream. Free Tibet” and “Free Tibet.” They later climbed down.
I can think of nothing more unsavory than liberal green fascists that want to control the lives of everyone. Except liberal red commies that want to control the lives of everyone. Sigh. Who is a red-state conservative to pull for?

Mohammed cartoon makes a comeback
ONE OF Denmark’s biggest newspapers republished the controversial drawing of Muslim prophet Mohammed less than a day after a plot to kill the cartoonist was foiled.
The cartoon depicting the prophet with a bomb under his turban has appeared on the homepage of the Jyllands-Postennewspaper – as well as being published three times on a page featuring the story of the plot to kill Kurt Westergaard.
Yesterday, three men accused of conspiring to kill Westergaard were arrested by Danish authorities.

Ah yes, death to the infidel and the blasphemer. How yesterday. Europe has really caused itself an amazing amount of problems by allowing in waves of Islamic immigrants who have no interest whatsoever of assimilating or adapting to their new homes. We hope that the cultural suicide being perpetrated in Europe will not find it’s way across ‘the big pond’ but it is probably only a matter of time.
In the US we are already seeing a disdain for the dominant American culture from those coming across the southern border by the millions but here a cartoon of a character wearing a sombrero may subject you to intense slander, public ridicule, career derailment, accusations of hate speech and perhaps a trip in front of the local pc board of inquiry, but at least you’ll probably not be killed.
Nicolas Sarkozy: Badass
In response to Dave’s post below, I post seperately so I can use these pictures.

Doesn’t this picture to the left just scream badass? No, wait, it yells — no icily stares. Yes, that’s it, it icily stares badass.

At any moment, I expect Sarkozy to hear a gunshot, shove his wife and child into a speeding car, and whip out a 9mm from his belt, which he will use to pick off the several would-be assassins one by one.
Sarkozy marries model girlfriend
So Conclub’s favorite Frenchman has apparently tied the knot. We wish him and his new bride the best.
“The bride was wearing white and was ravishing,” mayor Francois Lebel told Europe 1 radio.“The bridegroom wasn’t bad either,” he added, without naming the couple.
Pre-emptive nuclear strike a key option, Nato told
The Left isn’t going to like this. I agree that NATO must redefine its role in the future and decide whether it will be relevant in the War on Terror and future confrontations with rogue regimes.
The west must be ready to resort to a pre-emptive nuclear attack to try to halt the “imminent” spread of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction, according to a radical manifesto for a new Nato by five of the west’s most senior military officers and strategists.
Calling for root-and-branch reform of Nato and a new pact drawing the US, Nato and the European Union together in a “grand strategy” to tackle the challenges of an increasingly brutal world, the former armed forces chiefs from the US, Britain, Germany, France and the Netherlands insist that a “first strike” nuclear option remains an “indispensable instrument” since there is “simply no realistic prospect of a nuclear-free world”.
Yeah Baby!! Health care in Britain rocks!
Our discussions of Britain have centered around the emerging threat of Islamofacists on the once proud nation. Yet perhaps a more immediate threat to the health of our neighbor across the pond is the lack of good dental care. While our candidates bitch about the supposed health care “crisis” in America, Great Britain shows us just what we have in store if Clintonian health care comes to our shores. And it ain’t pretty. Any time the government dictates what services people can shop for and the cost of those services that doctors can charge, everyone loses. Investors Business Daily details the nightmare scenario that the nannies on the left will have us reaping if we choose to spread their seeds of deceit. While politicians whine about the millions of uninsured in America, their answers to the problem will lead to shortages of doctors. This in turn leads to *surprise* millions of people going without health care! From the article:
Since April 2006, one in every 10 dentists have stopped offering treatment under Great Britain’s national health care system. Who can blame them? The government changed its contract with 21,000 dentists almost two years ago, and the result was more work for the dentists and limits on their earnings.
Because of the shortage, 2.7 million Britons have gone nearly two years without dental work. Alice Thomson drolly summed up the situation thusly in Friday’s London Telegraph:
“In Britain today, you can stuff yourself on deep-fried Mars bars, drink 20 pints a night, inject yourself with heroin, smoke 60 cigarettes a day or decide to change your sex — and the NHS has an obligation to treat you. . . . But if you have bad teeth, forget it.”
I suspect it is just a matter of time before Great Britain changes its contract with, say, orthopedic specialists or oncologists. This is the problem with the nanny state. They can dictate whatever they deem healthful. So if you want that Royale with cheese, fine. Just know that the government may be soon re-negotiating its contract with heart specialists. Your bypass may have to wait a year or three. In Canada, the wait times cost taxpayers billions of dollars:
A Canadian Medical Association study says that long waiting times, a hallmark of the socialist system that also is pitched as a model for the U.S., costs that country’s economy $15 billion a year.
The loss is due to patients’ and caregivers’ absences from work, the increased costs of extra appointments, and drugs that patients need while they wait for treatment.
So if you are anxious to remake health care in America, be careful what you wish for!
When it’s a crime to blog in the West
The power of Political Correctness and the authoritarian heavy handedness that comes with it are very evident in this story. The US is moving rapidly in that direction with “free speech” now amended with speech codes, sensitivity training, the dreaded accusation of “hate speech” and a snarling social stigma for daring to say that homosexuality is wrong, Islam is not a peaceful religion, abortion is merely infanticide in the womb etc. etc.
A Profile of Courage: An Interview with “Lionheart” the British Blogger in Hiding
Islamist rule over the UK may, alarmingly, be on its way. Today, the British police want to question and/or arrest the British blogger known as Lionheart. His crime? Turning his life around as a young school dropout and petty drug dealer and emerging as a believing Christian who opposes the drug plague in his hometown of Luton and who views the Pakistani Islamist and al-Qaeda control of the drug trade in Luton as both criminally and politically dangerous. For this, Lionheart has been charged with “stirring up racial hatred”—which is a crime in the UK.
Britain drops “War on Terror” Label
More accurately, Britain wets itself in hopes of not offending Muslims or sounding warlike.
A few excerpts:
Sir Ken Macdonald said terrorist fanatics were not soldiers fighting a war but simply members of an aimless “death cult.”
I’m sorry, is Mister Macdonald really that naive and uninformed? If anything, the members of the accurately labeled “death cult” are far from aimless. Instead they are often part of (or influenced by) the highly organized and global spanning network of jihadist organizations that have a plan, a vision, and a detailed agenda for the future.
The term “Islamic terrorist” will also no longer be used. Officials believe it is unhelpful because it appears to directly link the religion to terrorist atrocities.
Once again I must excuse myself. Is it really “helpful” to attempt to portray something as something it as not? Is it helpful to attempt to fool the public into believing something that is false or misleading. Are we to believe that there is in fact no direct link between the Islamic religion and terrorist atrocities? Perhaps the esteemed aristocrats of the once mighty British Empire should visit our humble site more often. They might learn a thing or two.
The term “War on Terror” was a poor label to begin with, but not for the reasons that the British are offering. The Pentagon now uses the term “the Long War” and many on the Right have adopted the far more correct but controversial term “War on Islamofascism” or very similar names such as “War on Islamic Jihadists” or “War on Islamic extremism”. The Left doesn’t seem to want to call it anything at all besides some rambling, incoherent mess like “Bush’s illegal fascist war on behalf of Haliburton” or some other gibberish.
The powers of Political Correctness reach into every nook and cranny of government, education and public policy throughout the Western world. And such “New Speak” affects the way the public comprehends and understands the present worldwide conflict the West is embroiled in.
What the heck, label it a public health hazard and call for its eradication from the face of society and civilization. That would be alright with me.
Tony Blair converts to Catholicism
I know we say that Conclub is generally way ahead of the curve but this is ridiculous! From PGWarners ‘I am your humble messenger’ post two days ago:
Your messenger wants to know what good faith is if you do not believe in anything. Hey don’t get your messenger wrong, being the Papist I am, I realize every time his Worship opens up his multicultural mouth Holy Mother Church picks up 10,000 new converts! At this rate we will get back all the churches and cathedrals Hank the 8th stole from us.
As if on cue, Tony Blair then springs into action:
Tony Blair, who often kept his religious views private while serving as Britain’s prime minister, has converted to Catholicism, officials said Saturday.
Blair, who had long been a member of the Church of England, converted to the Catholic faith during a Mass held on Friday night at a chapel in London, the Catholic Church said.
Conclub may be the best kept secret of the blogging world. You might want to tell your friends now so that you can say you were an original reader of such dazzling talent.
Only in Britain!
I know that our love for, and disapproval of Britain has been well documented lately. But let it be known that when we speak disapprovingly of our great Mother Country, we do so as the loving child that is watching her slash her own wrists. Britain’s newest reality television show brings to mind the saying “the same thing that makes you laugh can make you cry.”
WHAT do a gay hairdresser, an atheist taxi driver, a skincare centre manager, a glamour model and a mixed race couple have in common?
They all live in Harrogate and, for three weeks this summer, agreed to discard their normal routines and live as Muslims for a TV documentary series. Under the watchful eye of a team of Muslim mentors, the diverse group were taught to abide by Sharia law while a camera crew followed them around. Viewers will be able to follow their fortunes in a three-part series called Make Me a Muslim, which begins on Channel Four at 8pm tomorrow.
. . .The team of mentors was led by Imam Ajmal Masroor, who believes passionately that Britain is in a state of meltdown, with anti-social behaviour, promiscuity and alcohol corroding the moral fabric of the nation.
In the documentary, he tells the group it is time to start a “spiritual revolution” in the UK to restore its moral backbone.
Lets put this in its proper context, shall we? The original question states: what do a gay hairdresser, an atheist taxi driver, a skincare centre manager, a glamour model and a mixed race couple have in common?
The answer is that 4/5 of those mentioned will be KILLED under Sharia law! “Spiritual revolution” indeed!
A UK clarification.
Lets get something straight: Conclub members admire and respect the United Kingdom and her peoples. Some of us of late have been documenting the various pernicious ways that multiculturalism, secularism, globalization and the EU are threatening to tear that great nation apart. We are doing this to document it, and as a warning to what is starting to
happen here. Canada and Australia have also been mentioned as examples. Our own USA is held up to even more scrutiny. We do this out of love and as patriots.
We have employed sarcasm, hyperbole and the absurd to draw attention to the above mentioned threat. If you are ![]()
limited by intelligence, or outlook to finger painting your world in only bold primary colors we apologize. You have our condolences on being fantastically obtuse.
We have also mention the boorish, thuggish, “soccer hooligan” behavior of UK fans recently at the Floyd Mayweather Jr./Ricky Hatton fight. This is a factual characterization of some unfortunate behavior. There are children throughout the world. The memory of drunken fools booing of our anthem will quickly fade.
This American will never forget the Queen commanding her band to play the Star Spangled Banner at Buckingham Palace after 911. Rule Britannia!
Can you hear the soft tread of fascism?
When true fascism emerges again in Western Civilization it will be a creation of the Left, not the Right. The goal of controlling your life from womb to tomb, and everything you do in between, will increasingly be realized under the guise of ‘public health’ and ‘climate change’. Totalitarianism marches on, and in the UK the race to destroy society seems to be a neck and neck race between the followers of Islam and the government. I’m not sure who’ll “win” first. Never mind that the human addition to the carbon pool is about equal to adding a tablespoon of water to a full bathtub. The issue here in the end is not ‘climate change’ but control (and wealth redistribution), pure and simple. The tool has been found and currently it is a blunt instrument. But it is being sharpened and will increasingly be used to govern how much you consume, purchase, build, travel, eat and eventually things like how many children you can have without penalty. Mark my words, the agenda is stark and clear and Conclub will be documenting it every step of the way.
Personal carbon limit for everyone (U.K. carbon credits)
Every person in Britain would be given a “carbon limit” under radical government plans to limit emissions, it was announced today.Everybody could be issued with a “carbon credit card” which they would swipe when buying petrol, paying their utility bills, purchasing food, or travelling.People with lifestyles that are damaging to the environment - such as frequent fliers, motorists who drive gas-guzzling vehicles or people who live in large homes with poor insulation - would have to buy more carbon credits from greener individuals.Foreign Secretary David Miliband floated the idea when he was Environment Secretary and the Government has launched a study into the practicalities of personalised carbon quotas.Environment Minister Joan Ruddock told MPs the personal carbon trading scheme “is one of a number of potential long-term options being explored for making individuals better informed about, and involved in, tackling climate change”.
Floyd Mayweather/Ricky Hatton: Great fight, terrible fans
Anytime I watch a pay-per-view fight, I feel obliged to share my thoughts with the uncleansed masses that were too poor to afford the fuel to drive to their own brothers house while said brother provided the food, the alcohol and the fight. It’s tough being the leacherous little brother. It really is. My last pay-per view insight can be read in all of its splendid length here.
So again I found myself at big brothers eagerly anticipating the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Ricky Hatton fight. The fight had all of the makings of a super bout. Two undefeated champions, two lightning quick fighters, two completely different personalities. The American Floyd Mayweather was 38 - 0 and is recognized as the greatest fighter today pound for pound. His opponent, the Englishman Ricky Hatton, was 43 - 0 and seemed to have all of the tools to challenge the 147 pound champion. Insiders said that Mayweather wasn’t taking the fight seriously and didn’t train hard. They also said that Hatton was as prepared for a fight as a prize fighter could be.
Other intangibles made the fight worth watching. Mayweather is the brash American. He is good and he knows it. He is also a self-promoting marketing genius. An African-American very much at home in the Las Vegas hip-hop culture. Hatton is the feel good story from Manchester, England. He has seemingly flown in under the radar and onto the biggest stage in boxing. His no-nonsense style and white skin provide a stark contrast to the trash talking American. So who does one pull for?
The answer to that question would come before the fighters even emerged from their locker rooms. As the crowd gathered, it was obvious that the Brits in attendance thought they were at a soccer game. They showed up with drums and trumpets and an insatiable thirst for Budweiser. They were obnoxious and loud and stupid. When Tom Jones sang ‘God Save the Queen’ they managed to momentarily sober up but then proved what dirty dispicable people they really are by booing the American anthem. They also engaged in the annoying custom of singing faggoty soccer songs and chants. Their favorite was a song sang to the Christmas tune Winter Wonderland. I couldn’t make out their alcohol-induced slurring so I won’t even try.
So by the time the fighters took the ring, I was firmly entrenched in the Mayweatther camp. When Mayweather walked out to Born in the U.S.A., I asked big brother if he had a flag I could wrap myself in. I felt a kinship with Mayweather. I became Floyd Mayweather. I felt hostility for the things that Britain had done to us. I led drunken chants of “no taxation without representation!” and encouraged the crowd to remember that these people burned down our White House. When those fans flew to our country, drank our beer, and booed our anthem, I felt like William Wallace before the Battle of Stirling. And Mayweather didn’t disappoint.
While Hatton was quick and aggressive, he never seemed to land punches on the equally quick Mayweather. Early on, Hatton appeared to have Mayweather perplexed by matching Mayweather with quickness while backing the champion down. Any combination of punches from the Brit brought out raucous cheers from his drunken soccer breatheren. But Mayweather seemed to be in control the entire time. Hattons only real chance to win the bout was to turn the fight into a brawl. Not a bad strategy when you consider what he was up against. In the 4th round, Mayweather opened up a nice cut above Hatton’s right eye and by the 8th, Mayweather was opening up a sizable lead on the cards. Finally in the 10th round, Mayweather knocked out the scrappy Brit and put a stake in the hearts of the inebriated fools from across the pond.
Overall the fight was great. Hatton brought it. Mayweather responded. The tactical aspects were entertaining and the outcome was very acceptable. And in the end, one can understand why PGWarner would spend the first half of his ‘Humble Messenger’ post (ironic that this post comes on the day of the fight) detailing just what disgusting people the British are. And one also understands why DFV would comment on that thread with this: “the human filth that accounts for much of the British subjects today is truly heartrending. A greater nation has never produced a more putrescent lot.”
This is true in both the political arena and the athletic arena.
Redacted is the “most disgusting, most hateful, most incompetent, most revolting, most loathsome cinematic work”. . . look for it to win more awards
Most have heard of the Brian DePalma film Redacted by now. The movie is a treasonous look at a single act of crime committed by Marines in 2006. Those few individuals have since been prosecuted. But leave it to twisted leftists like DePalma and financier Mark Cuban to heap nothing but scourn on the entire military while providing fodder for future terror organizations to carry on their jihad. Just don’t question their patriotism. Here is what Michael Medved had to say about the film:
I am actually one of the few people in the country who has seen the new movie. It is called “Redacted” … And let me just tell you, before I go to actually reviewing it: It could be the worst movie I’ve ever seen. I mean, the out and out worst, most disgusting, most hateful, most incompetent, most revolting, most loathsome, most reprehensible cinematic work I have ever encountered. This is having reviewing movies for more than 25 years. [It] covers a lot of disgusting ground, but none more disgusting than ‘Redacted,’ which portrays the Marine Corps, one of the finest organizations ever assembled by human beings, portrays the U.S. Marine Corps, as corrupt, vicious, racist killers and rapists … (snip) …
It portrays the members of our Marine Corps in the most disgusting way imaginable. They hang out in barracks, drunk or stoned, with Confederate flags all over the place. And the head Marine, who is the leading rapist and murderer, is a big fat guy, I mean, hugely out of shape, right - just the typical Marine (sarcastic) - Marines tend not to look like that - big fat guy, overhanging belly, cigar-chomping, loud-mouthed, sort of fair-complexion. His name is Rush. Nothing in movies is an accident. They’re clearly trying to indict and smear Rush Limbaugh by saying that secretly he wants to rape and abuse 14-year old girls and murder them and then burn their bodies … (snip) …
Oh and by the way, the film earned a Silver Lion “Best Director” award at the Venice film festival. Which shows you just how disgusting, hateful, incompetent, revolting, and loathsome Europe can be.
Europe is in far deeper trouble than many realize
Murder attempt on Denmark Leader and supporters
As Islamofascism awareness week draws to a close, incidents like this help to shine the light on the ideology that English speaking peoples, the West and all civilized peoples throughout the world face. Now normally I’m not a fan of beating girls with iron bars, but such personal prohibitions and natural inclinations of self restraint are not shared by a group who descended with some fury on a group preparing to join a rally opposing Islam’s primitive and totalitarian belief system.

Europe has to wake up or it’s cultural and political suicide will someday only be a sad footnote in the history books of my future grandchildren. It is heartbreaking to watch a once great cradle of civilization allow itself to be politically, racially, nationally, culturally, ideologically and theologically castrated by its own policies and beliefs. Far more of us have in the US (as compared to Europe) have sounded the alarm and pointed out the threat of what massive immigration (both legal and illegal) can do to a nation, a culture and a people. If one can believe it, the situation in Europe is far graver with its influx of massive immigrants primarily being of Muslim origin and bringing its plethora of serious problems and dysfunctions to the birthplace of Western Civilization.
Will Americans put up with this kind of thing? I tend to think not, but we’ll see. One of the many commenter’s on this story quoted Shakespeare’s Henry V on the eve of the Battle of Agincourt ‘he that hath no stomach for this fight
let him depart’.
The Gates of Vienna website is reporting that this was not an attack by Islamists themselves, but that it was some anarchist sympathizers who staged the ambush. European politics is always interesting. You’ve got to love the brownshirts of the radical Left and a society that calls you ‘fascist’ for standing up to fascism.
For a fun overview of some of the websites that cover this type of thing, you can read my column The Rise of the anti-Jihadists. The ‘Counter Jihad’ is playing catchup.
And finally, don’t miss Leftist Brown Shirts Shut Down Horowitz Speech at Emory.
What transpired at Emory on Wednesday night demonstrates the reality of this assertion, and the outrageous actions that result when Islamic Fascism and University Leftism converge on a college campus. The campus Left pretends to believe in free speech, but can’t even bring itself to let mass murder and terrorism be criticized. In case these campus censors haven’t noticed, our very civilization is being threatened, but they line up with the same enemy who would obliterate every freedom these Leftwing extremists choose to abuse.
New Blogroll Addition
I have taken the liberty to add a new addition to our blogroll. The Fjordman files is the archived work of a Scandinavian blogger who is one of the few articulate voices in Europe to openly confront and analyze the destructive influences of Multiculturalism on Western Civilization and the unfortunate effects Islam is having on European cultures and peoples . I humbly submit that he is the best column writer I have ever read (that knocks DFV down to the 2nd spot) and strongly suggest you take the time to peruse his excellent body of work. He reminds me of Winston Churchill in the 1930’s sounding the lone voice of warning against the monstrousities gathering strength to threaten European Civilization.
We all know that we just love true intellectual diversity on this blog, and the Fjordman is neither an American nor a Christian. I hope that is diverse enough for all of you.
Would this car ever sell in the U.S.?
One might have to “Think” outside of the box, but this electric powered car named the “City” just might show up in your neighbor’s driveway in a year or two. John Olaf-Willums, CEO of Think, is determined to shake up the automotive industry by offering a built-to-order vehicle with an assembly platform that will be easily scalable as the demand grows.
Willums’s pitch is this: He’s not just selling an electric car; he’s upending a century-old automotive paradigm, aiming to change the way cars are made, sold, owned, and driven.
Before you start thinking “never gonna happen just like all the other electric car prototypes in the past few decades” you may want to reconsider. His company has caught the attention of Google’s founders as well as inventor Dean Kamen, who is in the process of adding a Stirling engine to the battery powered vehicle, which could extend the range of a car like the “City” by hundreds of miles.
Could a car like this ever be more than a niche player in the U.S. market? Affordable electric vehicles that offer performance as well as extended range are close to becoming a reality in the U.S., but is the American consumer ready for such a drastic change in thinking? The “Think City” looks promising. Click here for more on the topic from the folks at Business 2.0.
Preparing for the inevitable?
France: Prepare for War over Iran

Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner, speaking on RTL radio, called for “more effective sanctions” against Iran if it continues to resist the demands to suspend uranium enrichment.
“We will not accept that such a bomb is made. We must prepare ourselves for the worst,” he said, specifying that could mean a war. He did not elaborate on what kind of preparations that would entail.
It would appear that even our French friends are starting to read their tea leaves in a new light. The tempo of this situation is starting to quicken and we’ll undoubtely be hearing quite a bit more about all of this in the near future. Time is beginning to run out and so therefore the pace must quicken before we are faced with the inevitable.
Report: Washington Drawing Up Iran Air Strikes
I’m always very skeptical about reports like this, especially one as detailed as this one. It has the feel of something leaked directly from the Vice President’s office, for the purpose of either affecting the domestic political debate or intimidating the Iranians.
But this part has the sound of truth.
WASHINGTON — A recent decision by German officials to withhold support for any new sanctions against Iran has pushed a broad spectrum of officials in Washington to develop potential scenarios for a military attack on the Islamic regime, FOX News confirmed Tuesday.
The [German] announcement was made at a meeting in Berlin that brought German officials together with Iran desk officers from the five member states of the Security Council. It stunned the room, according to one of several Bush administration and foreign government sources who spoke to FOX News, and left most Bush administration principals concluding that sanctions are dead.
The Germans voiced concern about the damaging effects any further sanctions on Iran would have on the German economy — and also, according to diplomats from other countries, gave the distinct impression that they would privately welcome, while publicly protesting, an American bombing campaign against Iran’s nuclear facilities.
This shows a few things to those who are willing to learn.
1. The liberals’ insistence on sanctions as the only solution to vexing problems never gets around to answering what to do if sanctions absolutely can’t go any further. The assumption is that there is always more that can be done diplomatically, which is obviously absurd.
2. The Left’s bizarre idealism of European positions vis a vis US foreign policy is denuded by the body of available facts. The argument is that compared to European capitals, Washington is selfish, greedy, and focused on the short-term. Plainly, the opposite is true.
Considering the four main powerful US rivals, France was exposed in the UN Oil-for-Food scandal, Germany has now reverted to self-interested form, and Russia and China don’t even make pretenses about acting for the common good. It is not unreasonable that the smaller, less-prosperous, junior partners in the Euro-American alliance would be more protective of their own national interest than would the Americans of their own, but this seems not to have occurred to the liberals for the last 6 years.
3. And the gullible acceptance that “the rest of the world hates us” demonstrates a shallow understanding of who the rest of the world is, how they are represented, and the role they play in relations with the US and in management of world affairs. The reality is that among the most knowledgeable and experienced people in the West (esp., those managing the capitals and their relationship with the US), the US is seen as an unqualified good and an indispensable partner.
So when Germany says, in effect: “We are too greedy to support sanctions, too gutless to support airstrikes, but too smart not to pray that America solves our Iranian problem once and for all,” none of this is new or surprising. Except, apparently, to the Left.
The Rape of Europe
Another interesting view on the ‘Islamization’ of Europe and the crumbling of Western Civilization.

As Tom Bethell wrote in this month’s American Spectator: “Just at the most basic level of demography the secular-humanist option is not working.” But there is more to it than the fact that non-religious people tend not to have as many children as religious people, because many of them prefer to “enjoy” freedom rather than renounce it for the sake of children. Secularists, it seems to me, are also less keen on fighting. Since they do not believe in an afterlife, this life is the only thing they have to lose. Hence they will rather accept submission than fight. Like the German feminist Broder referred to, they prefer to be raped than to resist.
“If faith collapses, civilization goes with it,” says Bethell. That is the real cause of the closing of civilization in Europe. Islamization is simply the consequence. The very word Islam means “submission” and the secularists have submitted already. Many Europeans have already become Muslims, though they do not realize it or do not want to admit it.
What Next in the War on Terror
NY Times columnist David Brooks had a great line in the run-up to the 2006 elections. “It has been said that power corrupts,” he wrote, “but so too does powerlessness.” He was suggesting that it might be good for our country, and for the Democratic Party, if the Dems were to take control of Congress in the coming election. Being totally out of power had caused the Democrats to become unserious about issues facing our country. They had become obsessed with regaining power, but weren’t sure why they wanted it.
I was hopeful that the Democratic takeover would force them to become constructive players in the nation’s welfare. That proved to be hopelessly naive. They instead took the results of the election to mean that they should redouble their efforts to ridicule the President and try to make political gains by endlessly bitching about the current state of affairs.
But the time for their holiday from adulthood is drawing short. It looks like in 18 months, they will have complete control of the White House and the Congress. And while I am certain they will try to begin that tenure by continuing to whine about the past (”How can we fix this mess? If only they’d listened to us before….”), they’ll quickly realize that the public, no matter how much they hated Bush, will ask the new Democratic chieftains “What have you done for me lately?”
So between the handful of Dems running for President, the score or so of Democratic congressional leaders, and the myriad bloggers, I’m thinking we should have reams of proposals to sift through. Many of them have already declared that the hundreds of millions of people seeking ideas on Iraq shouldn’t bother to turn to them, so I may be too hopeful. But soon, they will have to offer solutions — and maybe then, as Brooks suggests, they’ll begin to mature into statesmen.
Specifically, I am wondering what we should do about central Asia. Al Qaeda has apparently reconstituted in Pakistan, and is even planning new attacks against the US. Should we launch Special Forces ops, in defiance of Musharraf’s demands? Should we require more from him in the battle against militants and risk his overthrow? Surely if we do either of those things (especially the former) then we will be enflaming the Muslim world, creating more terrorists, and acting as a recruiting agent for al Qaeda, or so I’m endlessly told. But to hold off would be to ignore the lessons of 9/11 and become complacent again.
Similarly, in Afghanistan, coalition forces control the capitol, but little else. Democracy seems even more foreign to Afghanis than to Iraqis, and while Iraq sputters toward political progress, Afghanistan isn’t even trying. We are struggling to create Iraqi defense forces, but there are almost no Afghani troops and precious few in the works. So what should we do? Keep fighting? Quit? Add troops? Come home? Or maybe we should just accept that this is really the best that we can accomplish and learn to live with it?
Anyway, al Qaeda is building up in this part of the world, as they did once before. Unlike the Middle East and Iraq, the central Asian subcontinent is a no man’s land where there is little civilization and almost no media. We have a few friends there on shaky ground and nothing more. Of course, we do have the means to violently clean out the borderland of Tora Bora and Waziristan, but at what cost?
These are the essential questions for the next President, the next Congress, and anyone who wants to be taken seriously as a political blogger. And very soon, this nation will ask the Democrats for their answers. I know I’ll be waiting anxiously
The Cerne Giant Has Company
Tip ‘o the Hat to our friend Mo K
Many of you may know about the hillside figure in Dorset, England called “Rude Man” or, more commonly, “The Cerne Giant” (Cerne Abbas is a village located just south of the figure). It is unknown how long ago the figure was first cut into the coutryside, but it was referenced as early as 1751. Estimates of the original appearance range from the 16th century to as far back as the 2nd century, during the reign of Roman Emporer Commodus. The later date is favored by most historians.
Now, artist Peter Stewart has added a bit of artwork to the display.
The locals are said to be upset. Some area pagans view the Cerne Giant as a fertility god (that doesn’t require much imagination) and are so distraught they decided to unleash hell, er, whatever their divinity can come up with.
Ann Bryn-Evans, of The Pagan Federation (they have a federation?!) said, “We were hoping for some dry weather but I think I have changed my mind. We’ll be doing some rain magic to bring the rain and wash it away.”
Well that seems rather rude to Mr. Stewart after all the work he put in. But he may not have to worry for awhile.
“It’s been raining buckets but the thing’s still there,” groused Ms. Bryn-Evans.
Well, silly, that’s because you’re praying to the wrong gods. As you should know by now, there’s only one true faith.
Civilization is crumbling
Schools told to dump Churchill from history lessons (UK)
Churchill’s grandson, Tory MP Nicholas Soames, stormed: “It’s total madness. The teaching of history is incredibly important. If people do not seem to care about the country in which they live, the reason is that they don’t know much about it.”
Secondary schools will strip back the traditional curriculum in favour of lessons on debt management, the environment and healthy eating, ministers revealed.
Even Winston Churchill no longer merits a mention after a drastic slimming-down of the syllabus to create more space for “modern” issues.
Sometimes you’ve just got to mourn the slow suicide of Western Civilization. At the next Conclub Conclave we may just have to dress in black and bury a symbolic coffin. A handcarved gravestone inscribed with “RIP Western Civilization” may be just the thing my backyard is missing.

Not worth teaching (or remembering):
“…If we can stand up to him, all Europe may be free and the life of the world may move forward into broad, sunlit uplands. But if we fail, then the whole world, including the United States, including all that we have known and cared for, will sink into the abyss of a new Dark Age made more sinister, and perhaps more protracted, by the lights of perverted science.
“Let us therefore brace ourselves to our duties, and so bear ourselves that if the British Empire and its Commonwealth last for a thousand years, men will still say, ‘This was their finest hour.’”
Winston Churchill - June 18, 1940
If you would like to send a kind word to M.P.Nicholas Soames (Grandson of Sir Winston Churchill) and let him know that you share his views in this matter, you may do so here:
Just wait until Hillary Clinton gets a hold of the schools. It’s not a pretty site when the inmates are running the aylum.
Sidenote: My paternal grandmother was a Churchill (and was born in London) but at best I am the most distant of relatives from good ‘ol Winston. My branch and his split some 150 years ago ( and yes someone, but not me, did the geneological research to find that out).
Sayeeda Warsi, David Cameron, and the Islamist Seige on Britain
If I were to tell you that there was a high-ranking Member of Parliament who believed that Britain’s policy of investigating and arresting suspected terrorists “was enough to tip any normal young man into the realms of a radicalized fanatic,” and if I also told you that the same MP suggested that British troops are wantonly murdering innocent civilians, you might think she hailed from the lunatic Respect Party, or perhaps you would guess that she were a member of the LibDems, possibly a Labour backbencher.
But unless you guessed that she is a new shadow cabinet secretary for Cameron’s Conservatives, you’d be wrong. In an article on NRO’s website, Nile Gardiner & Sally McNamara detail just what Sayeeda Warsi believes.
David Cameron’s leadership of the Conservatives has been farcical. He ostentatiously rides his bike to work looking like a buffoon, but it was recently revealed that a chauffered car drives along behind him carrying his briefcase.
He is not nearly as good as Blair on Anglo-American relations or on Israel. Now, with the appointment of Warsi, it’s getting increasingly hard to think of any reasons to vote Tory.
Blair May Be Gone, But Hitchens Remains
Only at the tail end of the coverage was it admitted that a car bomb might have been parked outside a club in Piccadilly because it was “ladies night” and that this explosion might have been designed to lure people into to the street, the better to be burned and shredded by the succeeding explosion from the second car-borne cargo of gasoline and nails. Since we have known since 2004 that a near-identical attack on a club called the Ministry of Sound was proposed in just these terms, on the grounds that dead “slags” or “sluts” would be regretted by nobody, a certain amount of trouble might have been saved by assuming the obvious. The murderers did not just want body parts in general but female body parts in particular.
But who are we to judge?

The west must be ready to resort to a pre-emptive nuclear attack to try to halt the “imminent” spread of nuclear and other weapons of mass destruction, according to a radical manifesto for a new Nato by five of the west’s most senior military officers and strategists.
The loss is due to patients’ and caregivers’ absences from work, the increased costs of extra appointments, and drugs that patients need while they wait for treatment.
