Los Angeles says ‘no’ to fast food for poor people

Posted in Immigration, Politics, The Nanny State, liberal fascism by E the Wise on July 29th, 2008

The extent to which local governments go to protect the masses from themselves always amazes me.  From bans on trans-fatty foods to bans on smoking or drinking or guns or <insert vice here>, there is no limit to what activity a government-gone-mad can take away from people.  And Los Angeles demonstrates just how stupid city council members are when it comes to legislating for the health of its residents:

The Los Angeles City Council has approved a one-year moratorium on new fast-food restaurants in a low-income area of the city.

The moratorium unanimously approved Tuesday is a bid to attract restaurants that offer healthier food choices to residents in a 32-square-mile area of South Los Angeles.

Councilwoman Jan Perry says residents at five public meetings expressed concern with the proliferation of fast-food outlets in the community plagued by above-average rates of obesity.

Instead of worrying about protecting the citizens of their city by eliminating “sanctuary city” status for illegal immigrants, they place moratoriums on fast food joints so those citizens can’t become obese.  And yet those same citizens will continue to vote for corrupt Democratic politicians to run their city into the ground.  I guess you get what you vote for.

I, on the other hand, will continue to enjoy KFC and Taco Bell free from the restrictions of government bureaucrats. . . for now.

100 American Organizations Launch Boycott of Absolut Vodka

Posted in Culture, Economics, Immigration by Dave - the Infidel Sage on April 9th, 2008

Apparently following my initial boycott of one, which was quickly joined by E. I didn’t realize that Conclub had become so influential so quickly in the activist community. Here is the full press release from Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC).

April 8, 2008

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Contact: William Gheen of Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC)
Press@alipac.us, (866) 703-0864

Over 100 American organizations dedicated to border security and the enforcement of
existing immigration laws launched a nationwide boycott of Absolut Vodka today in
response to their ad that ran in Mexico, which panders to a rising separatist movement
inside the US, that is being fueled by illegal immigration.

The National Illegal Immigration Boycott Coalition (NIIBC) is known nationally for prior
sustained boycotts against Miller Brewing and Bank of America for their support for
illegal aliens in the US.

The NIIBC has launched a new website at http://www.boycottabsolut.com to inform American
consumers and provide resources for citizens to engage in the boycott.

“Absolut vodka is trying to sell liquor to Mexicans that aspire to control the
Southwest United States,” says William Gheen of ALIPAC. “The warning signs are
everywhere. Illegal immigration is creating a rising threat to our existing border lines
and the very existence of the United States. The separatist sentiments and animus towards
America are prevalent in the Mexican population and the ranks of illegal aliens inside
the US creating a clear and present danger to our nation. Everywhere we look, Global
corporations have a hand in this brewing disaster and Absolut just made the list.”

The 100 organizations supporting the boycott will be informing their collective hundreds
of thousands of supporters using websites, e-mails, and talk radio shows.

The offensive Absolut ad was created by the Mexican advertising agency Teran/TBWA. The
boycott website will also feature video, audio, and text evidence of the growing
separatist movement in America to warn the public.

“Zogby polls tell us that most Mexicans feel they do not need American permission to
enter the US and consider this land rightfully theirs. This invasion has leaders, groups,
thousands of supporters on the streets, and global corporate support. It is time for
Americans to fight back by boycotting businesses that support the separatist
movement.” said William Gheen.

The Mass Migration from Mexico

Posted in Culture, Economics, History, Immigration, Political Correctness, Politics by Dave - the Infidel Sage on April 9th, 2008

There was certainly no ‘bias’ by whoever labeled this map. (: The fact that somewhere between one eighth to one fifth of Mexico has already immigrated to the US suggests that we are not witnessing a few migrant workers wandering nomadically from strawberry field to strawberry field, but a mass migration of a people. The parallels between what the Roman Empire experienced and what the US is allowing to happen is undeniable. And for those who are knowledgeable of the ultimate results of that migration of entire peoples into the Roman Empire the understanding that history is repeating itself should be cause for concern. We should all pause to consider the pathetically poor immigration policies that the US has employed over the last quarter century and the devastating effects it has had on many parts of the country, culture and American way of life. Many get uncomfortable with the legal and immigration debate because it touches on race. But calling a spade a spade is not irresponsible nor should it be controversial to openly admit the dramatic events occurring on the North American continent. No subject with such far reaching consequences and implications should be taboo but instead should have the spotlight of discussion and debate thrust upon it.

I thought this was kind of funny. When I want to get beat up I usually go over and post a column at watchblog.com. The ‘non-conservative’ element is well represented and it is interesting to see a cross section of thoughts expressed on something that you write about. I posted a short column on the Absolut Reconquista Ad to see what kind of reaction there would be to the subject. I often use that as a testing ground for ideas (as well as Conclub) before I write a true column that I send out to various sites for publication (Absolut fails the test). The feedback is good and helps one to correct certain things, shore up weak points in an argument or pinpoint inaccuracies that may have been overlooked. For example, my Obama: Excusing the Inexcusable column gathered 156 different comments in just a couple days so I knew that I had hit a nerve and that was a good subject to write on. This was one of the better ones on the Absolut post (whose comment section had degenerated into ‘did we steal the land and is it really theirs’ argument) and, though flippant, shows the logical conclusion of the mindset of those who have bought into the ‘white people are bad and to blame for everything’ mentality that infects the ideologies on the Left like the medieval plague. Blogging is the great clearing house of ideas.

We are such bad, bad people. Imagine the imperialist horror of it all.

Let’s give Mexico and Spain back all their territories in the Western U.S….Northern California and Alaska back to the Russians…Louisiana back to the French…Florida back to the Spanish…and everything else back to the Crow, Souix, Apache, Mohicans, etc….and let’s all move back to where our ancestors came from so that we may apologize for our unlawful and horrible aggression.

All whites must move back to Europe, all blacks back to Africa and all Asians back to China, Viet Nam and Japan.

Let’s all start today!

“The advertising firm that created the Absolut Reconquista ad is Teran/TBWA. Teran is based in Mexico City. The company’s website boasts a pretentious statement of philosophy advocating “disruption” as a “tool for change” and “agent of growth.” (Scroll your mouse over the little buttons in the upper-right margin.) The firm advocates “overturning assumptions and prejudices that get in the way of imagining new possibilities and visionary ideas that help create a larger share of the future.”

Translation: The company advocates overturning borders that get in the way of imagining new maps of North America that help Mexico create a larger share of the continent.” - blogger Michelle Malkin

Absolut Response to ‘Reconquista Ad’

Absolut Company Blog ^

We have received many comments on an ad showing what an ABSOLUT world would look like from a Mexican point of view. We are sorry if we offended anyone. This was not our intention. We will try to explain. Though you may not agree, I hope you understand……

…..The In An Absolut World advertising campaign invites consumers to visualize a world that appeals to them — one they feel may be more idealized or one that may be a bit “fantastic.” As such, the campaign will elicit varying opinions and points of view. We have a variety of executions running in countries worldwide, and each is germane to that country and that population.

This particular ad, which ran in Mexico, was based upon historical perspectives and was created with a Mexican sensibility. In no way was this meant to offend or disparage, nor does it advocate an altering of borders, nor does it lend support to any anti-American sentiment, nor does it reflect immigration issues. Instead, it hearkens to a time which the population of Mexico may feel was more ideal.

As a global company, we recognize that people in different parts of the world may lend different perspectives or interpret our ads in a different way than was intended in that market. Obviously, this ad was run in Mexico, and not the US — that ad might have been very different.

Well, I feel better now that they’ve explained their pandering to Aztlan mythology and its radical racist proponents.

Time-Warner: Vodka Ad Campaign Reconquers California for Mexico

Taking the Reconquista concept all the way to the end, Absolut Vodka launched an ad campaign that appears on billboards and at least one magazine that features a map of the western U.S. and Mexico with nearly the entire west coast appearing as a part of Mexico…

…In a day when immigration issues are incendiary between our two countries, Time Warner accepting ads that stirs Mexico’s sentiments to “take back” parts of the U.S. (as the term Reconquista means) as their own territory is quite extraordinary.

While “they” may be kidding many others are not.

Mexican state whines about influx of Mexicans

Posted in Immigration by E the Wise on March 12th, 2008

H/T - Hot Air

This will have you all broken up, I’m sure:

A delegation of nine state legislators from Sonora was in Tucson on Tuesday to say Arizona’s new employer sanctions law will have a devastating effect on the Mexican state.  “There is not one person living in Sonora who does not have a friend or relative working in Arizona,” she said in Spanish.
“Mexico is not prepared for this, for the tremendous problems” it will face as more and more Mexicans working in Arizona and sending money to their families return to hometowns in Sonora without jobs, she said.
That is some audacity.  The notion that it is okay for their state to export problems north and then complain when states tighten their laws, is mind boggling.
It reminds me of a nice country song I once heard:

Mohammed cartoon makes a comeback

ONE OF Denmark’s biggest newspapers republished the controversial drawing of Muslim prophet Mohammed less than a day after a plot to kill the cartoonist was foiled.

The cartoon depicting the prophet with a bomb under his turban has appeared on the homepage of the Jyllands-Postennewspaper – as well as being published three times on a page featuring the story of the plot to kill Kurt Westergaard.

Yesterday, three men accused of conspiring to kill Westergaard were arrested by Danish authorities.

Ah yes, death to the infidel and the blasphemer. How yesterday. Europe has really caused itself an amazing amount of problems by allowing in waves of Islamic immigrants who have no interest whatsoever of assimilating or adapting to their new homes. We hope that the cultural suicide being perpetrated in Europe will not find it’s way across ‘the big pond’ but it is probably only a matter of time.

In the US we are already seeing a disdain for the dominant American culture from those coming across the southern border by the millions but here a cartoon of a character wearing a sombrero may subject you to intense slander, public ridicule, career derailment, accusations of hate speech and perhaps a trip in front of the local pc board of inquiry, but at least you’ll probably not be killed.

CULTURE

“The truth is, we are supposed to be taking in individuals from other
cultures, not other cultures in their wholeness. That is what American
openness is supposed to represent. But we are so far gone that the men who
lead us… are not even aware of this. But once again we see the continuum
between universal values and multiculturalism. Since human beings can’t
live without culture, multiculturalism—that is, to be taken over by other
cultures—is the fate of any country unwilling to assert its own culture. Some
people are wary of talking of an American culture because they associate
it with race. This is erroneous. Culture transcends race. It unites people
of different backgrounds. Whether it be Louis Armstrong or Aaron Copland,
they are both part of American culture.”

A Call to End Debate, Free Hate Speech

…Other major “vigilantes” that need to be kept in check are CNN’s Lou Dobbs, and Fox’s Sean Hannity and Alan Colmes — and most of their guests….

….Ms. Murguia argued that hate speech should not be tolerated, even if such censorship were a violation of First Amendment rights:

Everyone knows there is a line sometimes that can be crossed when it comes to free speech. And when free speech transforms into hate speech, we’ve got to draw that line. And that’s what we’re doing here today. And we need to make sure that network executives will hold their people accountable and not cross that line.

Ms. Murguia didn’t directly endorse any candidate or, for that matter, any political party. However, she had kind words to say about John McCain, the arguable front-runner in the Republican race. Mr. McCain’s plan to handle immigration does not involve the deportation of all illegal immigrants.

Merely stating that people should not be allowed to break the law by the millions, and that a nation should not commit cultural castration by massive immigration is not racist, it is just a truth that some find uncomfortable and would rather not hear. If we had proper border security, zero tolerance for illegal immigrants if once caught, and severe penalties for those who hire them this would not even be a topic for debate. Common sense dictates that the current doctrine of “waving them all in” as preached by “Multiculturalists” is ridiculous and extremely harmful to the Unites States and the medical, educational, economic, and crimintal justice systems that we all rely upon.

Once you reject the concept of the “white man’s burden” and the idea that Western Civilization has produced nothing but misogyny and racism, then you can stand up for such simple concepts that resettling one eighth of Mexico in the US along with millions of others from all over the world is not necessarily a great idea, or at least one that should be done in a semblance of a orderly manner. The harsh truth is that the ‘movers and shakers’ of the two major political parties have abandoned principle in this matter and sold out their national heritage and culture for cheap votes on one hand and cheap labor on the other. When a nation and a people lose the ability and the will to hang on to its identity, enforce its own laws and understand its own history and culture, then it has begun the long slow slide into irrelevancy, decline and degeneration.

In the past I have always judged a person’s character on where they stood on the subjects of God, family, guns, and the sanctity of human life. If you were ‘right’ on these questions then you probably had a conscience, believed in liberty and small government, rejected the nanny state, respected tradition and religion, believed in morality, virtue, integrity, patriotism, and good citizenship and were probably a decent person to boot. To that has now been added their stand on cultural integrity and immigration as well as the willingness to oppose those who seek the destruction of Western Civilization (the War on Terror). Though this is not a true and inflexible litmus test for either friends, media influences or candidates I support, a correct viewpoint on these major philosophical, ideological and theological ideas would be looked upon in a positive manner and is a major portal into a person’s character and world view.

 IMMIGRATION AND CULTURE

“For a couple of hundred years, foreigners have been flocking to the shores of this most welcoming of nations. They would bring along their art and music along with their cuisine, but they adapted their ways in order that their children and their children s children would acclimate and be full-fledged Americans… But somewhere along the way, there was a sea change. Now we have that oddest of strange creatures known as the dual citizen and we have millions of people living here who apparently have no particular loyalty to this country and are being encouraged to retain their own language and their old ways. ‘Press one for Spanish, two for English’ has become commonplace. Teenagers who have never even set foot in Mexico, Salvador and Guatemala, demonstrate in our streets while carrying foreign flags, and we re all supposed to respect them or be labeled as bigots
and xenophobes. American citizens who are being taxed to death to support illegal aliens are called racists if they object to footing the bill for health care and education for millions of freeloading ingrates who insist they re only reclaiming land that is rightfully theirs. On top of all that, our kids are being brainwashed in their schools into accepting that the
only truly evil society on the face of the earth isn’t North Korea, Iran, China or Syria, but their own…Tolerance is the greatest of all virtues, but only so long as it s not tolerance of anything American.”

Illegals in Arizona: The New York Times is Concerned About Their Prospects

by James Fulford

The blogger Rhymes With Right gave this NY Times excerpt the title Like This Is A Bad Thing.” The insertions in square brackets are mine, the NYT sometimes has difficulty making things clear:

Advocates for [illegal] immigrants contend that, at a minimum, hundreds of people unauthorized to work have left the state or been fired. Some school districts have at least partly attributed enrollment drops [and the consequent massive savings in taxpayer dollars] to the law. Though the housing slump and seasonal economic factors make it difficult to pin down how much is attributable to the new law, illegal workers say employers are checking papers and are less inclined to hire them.

“They started asking everybody for papers one day, and those like me that didn’t have them [because we’re illegal]were fired,” said Luis Baltazar, a Mexican [illegal] immigrant who worked for a paving company until a few weeks ago and was soliciting work at a day labor hiring hall here.

Another [illegal] immigrant, Jose Segovia, said work had plummeted in the past few weeks, more so than in the four previous Decembers he spent in Phoenix. “Some of my [illegal] friends went back to Mexico,” Mr. Segovia said, “and I am thinking of going, too, if it doesn’t get better here.”[Arizona Is Split Over Hard Line On Immigrants, By Randal C. Archibold, December 14, 2007]

And there’s a photograph of some workers, presumably [illegal], with the caption “Day laborers looking for work in Phoenix on Wednesday. Some say a law that takes effect Jan. 1 has made jobs harder to find.”.

Well, it has if you’re [illegal], but not if you’re an American–the Law of Supply and Demand says that it would make jobs easier to find for Americans.

Of all my memories of Vietnam, there was one incident that remains as vivid as anything I have ever experienced.

It was after a successful ambush, where we killed three enemy soldiers. We always searched the bodies quickly, grabbing weapons and radios, looking for documents, and collecting the enemy I.D. tags so the Red Cross could notify their families. Then we’d get the hell out of there.

This time one of my men yelled, “Hey Blue, we’ve got an officer.” He could tell by the man’s insignia, and by the fact that he’d carried a pistol. I inspected the body myself. Officers were more likely to carry documents and I wanted to be sure we found everything.

I have taken the liberty to add a new addition to our blogroll.  The Fjordman  files is the archived work of a Scandinavian blogger who is one of the few articulate voices in Europe to openly confront and analyze the destructive influences of Multiculturalism on Western Civilization and the unfortunate effects Islam is having on European cultures and peoples . I humbly submit that he is the best column writer I have ever read (that knocks DFV down to  the 2nd spot) and strongly suggest you take the time to peruse his excellent body of work.  He reminds me of Winston Churchill in the 1930’s sounding the lone voice of warning against the monstrousities gathering strength to threaten European Civilization.

We all know that we just love true intellectual diversity on this blog, and the Fjordman is neither an American nor a Christian. I hope that is diverse enough for all of you.

On debates and division

Posted in 2008 Presidential campaigns, Culture, Humor, Immigration by E the Wise on September 17th, 2007

H/T Mickey Kaus

At the recent Univision debate, Hillary Clinton was asked this question:

Senator Clinton, the negative tone of the immigration debate has left the country polarized and has created certain racist and discriminatory attitudes toward Hispanics.

To which she responded:

Well, I think this is a very serious problem. And, as I said earlier, there are many in the political, and, frankly, in the broadcast world today, who take a particular aim at our Latino population and I think it’s very destructive.

Perhaps by ”destructive” she means like this:

“People have to stop employing illegal immigrants. … I mean, come up to Westchester, go to Suffolk and Nassau counties, stand on the street corners in Brooklyn or the Bronx; you’re going to see loads of people waiting to get picked up to go do yard work and construction work and domestic work.”

Who’d say such a terrible thing anyway?  Must be Bill O’Reilly or Tom Tancredo or Hillary!

But the question demonstrates a more pronounced spontaneity of the left to characterize any issue that people disagree on as “polarizing.”  On Iraq, we are “hopelessly divided.”  On immigration, the country is “polarized” and “discriminatory.”  Liberals on this site believe that the Christian worldview is irreconcilable with secularism and that the religious right is discordant.  The gay community characterizes opposition to gay marriage as hateful and divisive.  And naturally, over the next year, any and all polticians will pander to those that ascribe to the doom and gloom scenarios.  Is it any wonder why we aren’t on the brink of civil war in this caustic cesspool known as America?

This is a great quote from some character known as shirtlesszacefron over at Freerepublic. It brought the infamous smile to my face.

Don’t these politicians realize that all they have to do to get our vote is to say how they’re going to deport every illegal in the whole country and shut off the border?

Not only would we elect them, we’d build statues of them, and burn incense onto their likeness for all generations.

It may not get them elected or even the Republican nomination but it would certainly be refreshing to hear. My cheer would be heard several blocks away…

The Rape of Europe

Posted in Culture, Europe, Immigration, Islam, Religion by Dave - the Infidel Sage on September 1st, 2007

Another interesting view on the ‘Islamization’ of Europe and the crumbling of Western Civilization.

As Tom Bethell wrote in this month’s American Spectator: “Just at the most basic level of demography the secular-humanist option is not working.” But there is more to it than the fact that non-religious people tend not to have as many children as religious people, because many of them prefer to “enjoy” freedom rather than renounce it for the sake of children. Secularists, it seems to me, are also less keen on fighting. Since they do not believe in an afterlife, this life is the only thing they have to lose. Hence they will rather accept submission than fight. Like the German feminist Broder referred to, they prefer to be raped than to resist.

“If faith collapses, civilization goes with it,” says Bethell. That is the real cause of the closing of civilization in Europe. Islamization is simply the consequence. The very word Islam means “submission” and the secularists have submitted already. Many Europeans have already become Muslims, though they do not realize it or do not want to admit it.

Sanctuary Cities

Posted in 2008 Presidential campaigns, Immigration by Dave - the Infidel Sage on August 13th, 2007

An essay by soon to be presidential candidate Fred Thompson.

An example of what happens when we don’t make the choice took place August 4th when three Newark, New Jersey, college students with great promise were executed, gangland style. The killers’ ringleader was apparently an illegal alien indicted twice in 2007 for felonies, including the rape of a kindergarten-aged girl.

Why would such a person be set free instead of being handed over to authorities for deportation? The answer is that Newark is a “sanctuary city” which bans cooperation between local officials and federal immigration officials. More than 60 sanctuary zones, including 30 of America’s largest cities, provide a national networked haven for foreign and organized criminals who recruit and operate outside those areas as well. These sanctuaries include Cambridge, Massachusetts; Los Angeles, California; Detroit, Michigan; Chicago, Illinois; Austin and Houston, Texas; Denver, Colorado; and New York City.

The consequences of “sanctuary cities” may be most obvious in the city that became the first in 1979 — Los Angeles. According to the Center for Immigration Studies, a confidential California Department of Justice study from the mid-1990’s showed then that at least 60 percent of the members of L.A.’s most violent gangs, with membership in the tens of thousands, were illegal aliens. Of all outstanding murder warrants in Los Angeles, 95 percent are for illegal aliens. Frustrated police say they are powerless to pick up even well-known, previously deported felons.

Can I get an Amen and a Hallelujah for Fred’s thoughts on illegal immigration? Win or lose Thompson brings a new and refreshing air  and style to American politics and could very easily serve as the catalyst for a resurgent GOP. The party of Lincoln may be ‘down’ but they are definitely not out.

It’s a start (and about frickin’ time)

Illegal immigration drops sharply along US-Mexico border

This is about fifteen years, and 12 million illegals (min.), too late but maybe we are just beginning to move in the right direction. Build the wall, militarize the border, call out the guard, quadruple the border patrol, put an ICE office in every hamlet, start throwing employers in jail, severely punish sanctuary cities, and do whatever needs to be done to protect our nation, our culture, our society, our language, our resources, our economy, our schools, our health care system, and our people from the raging torrent of illegal immigrants inundating the good ‘ol USA. I rate this issue even above the issue of Islamic fundamentalism’s war on Western Civilization and the threat of terrorism. Wars and threats come and go, the basic and fundamental altering of a nation is far more permanent. Those who advocate amnesty and massive immigration are selling out their country for cheap labor on the one hand and cheap votes on the other. What traitors, hypocrites and short sighted idiots. I have no interest in having my children grow up in a country dominated by third world views and culture.

Tancredo wins surprise immigration vote

Thank you to all the American people who have started to stand up and say ‘enough is enough’. No more amnesty, no more open borders, no more sanctuary cities and no more cultural and societal disentegration.  If former Sen. Thompson does not enter the presidential race, I will probably cast a ‘I’m voting for principle’ vote for Tancredo in the primaries. If for nothing else than to send a message to the GOP that ‘the base’ isn’t going to take it anymore.

“The issue has come to fruition,” Tancredo said by cell phone after the vote. “The people of the country really have spoken. It’s a really good indicator of just how much closer to the people the House is than the Senate is.”

The House passed the amendment, 234 to 189, with 50 Democrats voting in favor.

Tancredo and his staffers hooted and cheered from his office across the street from the Capitol immediately after the vote.

Tancredo has introduced similar amendments at least seven other times since 2004, but each has failed — often by wide margins.

Fool us once, shame on you. Fool us twice…

Is it really that hard to have a nation that actually has borders? Is it too much to ask that those who come here do it in small, needed and monitored groups? Is it too much to say that with already 1/8th of the Mexican population living in the US that maybe we should discuss some security measures and examine the vast impact that they are having on our culture, as well as the political, health care, educational and correctional systems before we give a green light for the rest to come on over? And in the end, is it really too much to ask that the Republicans not sell America out for cheap labor and for the Democrats to not sell America out for cheap votes?

 I think not.

The Corner has some thoughts on The Amnesty Bill that are interesting as well.

The chief cause of misunderstanding is the issue of trust. The White House thought that that if they had all sorts of conservative mechanisms in the bill that conservatives would be placated. What they didn’t understand is that the anti-”amnesty” wing of the Republican party simply doesn’t believe any of these enforcement measures will implemented until they in fact are implemented. “Trust but verify” has simply become “verify.” And until there is real enforcement — both in terms of current law and new laws — the base simply doesn’t care about any other bells and whistles. “Been there done that” is the de facto official policy of the base when it comes to promises of enforcement, i.e. “No more promises, just enforcement. Then we’ll talk”

Surrendering our Sovereignty

“It occurred to me at this conference, after examining the literature provided to me and hearing the various experts on the panels, that a process has been well underway to merge not only the legal but economic, political, and social systems of the U.S., Canada and Mexico. I wondered how this was all set in motion and what justification there was legally, legislatively or constitutionally, for it to proceed. “

Updated: The ‘move along, nothing to see here’ crowd would like to believe that there is no connection between the various hemispheric trade agreements, the open borders policy and the gradual hemispheric integration that is in the works (think EU).  I sincerely hope they are correct but fear that they simply refuse to acknowledge the evergrowing signs that show we are headed in that direction. Too often whre there is smoke there is fire.  Now would probably be a good place to throw in a ‘the love of money is the root of all evil’ quotation but I will bravely resist the temptation.

Canada.com has a good article relating the story of a meeting held by Canadian, US and Mexican officials on integration.

Canadian, U.S. and Mexican politicians discussed using “stealth” to overcome public resistance to the integration of the three countries at a confidential meeting last year, according to documents just released under U.S. Freedom of Information laws….

…Presentation outlines for the forum acknowledge that the concept of North American integration - which some call a “North American Union” - is unpopular, and note that it might be tough to sell as a concept.

“While a vision is appealing, working on the infrastructure might yield more benefit and bring more people on board (’evolution by stealth’),” the notes said.

Garthwaite Details Heritage Foundation Opposition to Immigration Bill

Posted in Conservatives, Immigration by E the Wise on May 20th, 2007

Our old friend Jonathan Garthwaite at Townhall seems to believe that the Heritage Foundation is going to put its considerable influence strongly against the immigration bill.  He writes:

I spent 11 years working in the Heritage Foundation building and I can’t recall Heritage speaking so strongly against illegal immigration and amnesty proposals before.

Amnesty: The Con of the Century

Posted in Congress, Culture, Immigration, Law, Liberals, Washington by Dave - the Infidel Sage on May 18th, 2007

The Democrats are giddy and gleeful at their chance to add another 20 million or so voters to their ranks (12 + million “undocumented workers” and the additional family members that will join them here). A golden chance for them to finally slay the GOP beast and usher in an era of one party governance. If this becomes law, I’ll be able to tell my grandchildren the actual moment that this great country decided to destroy its own culture and begin the transformation of significant parts of it into a third world cesspool. This is where you will be able to divide the conservatives from the RINO’s, the patriots from the sell-outs, and the appeasers from the men and women of principle. All political posturing aside, I have never felt more sick to my stomach watching the implementation of a political policy than I do at this very moment. It is truly a very sad day for me to watch this happen to the country I love and what I believe to be the last, best bastion of hope for Western Civilization. We are being spoon-fed the lie that this is the “last, best chance” at immigration reform. What poppycock and regurgitated nonsense is that?

The good news is that it could take anywhere from five to eight years for an illegal to become a citizen under the current bill.

The bad news is that is enough time for Congress to pass an additional amnesty bill or two before this one has its full impact on American society.

Cultural surrender should not be an option.

No Mas!

But They Really Only Want the American Dream For Their Children!

Concerned citizens of the United States bring up a variety of persuasive arguments for walling off the southern border and deporting any and every illegal immigrant that seeps through.  But this video may be the greatest example I have seen.  It speaks to the complaint that Mexican immigrants are not integrating, not learning the language and not teaching their children the values that American citizenship brings.  This is a May Day counter-protest group that is standing near an elementary school.

Boise State CR’s Make a Run for the Border

Just reading about the ”crossing” makes me chuckle.

In a flyer advertising an upcoming presentation on illegal immigration, the BSU College Republicans said they would give away a door prize of a dinner for two from Chapala Mexican Restaurant. But to enter the drawing, people were to “climb through the hole in the fence and enter false ID documents into the food stamp drawing.”

Life was so simple 15 years ago when we could sit around - over a beer or 12 - and hatch the latest scheme to rile up the campus thought police.
